Disability Services Division
Because of the Eastern Social Welfare Society’s interest in the disabled, it established the Dongbang Children’s Rehabilitation Center and Dongbang Special Education School in 1987. According to the needs of the disabled, we have provided a wide range of service such as education, medical services, and a place of residence. The rehabilitation support project, Seodaemun Haebeonnuri and the children’s mental health facility, Seodaemun Child Zone and other projects all work towards helping people with disabilities fully adjust to society and live a happier life.
Rehabilitation Service for
Disabled Children
The Rehabilitation Service for Disabled Children helps crete a stable living environment for children struggling due to their disability. At the same time, the Center helps the children fully integrate into society through various methods such as providing children with education and activities that help enrich the everyday lives of these children.
Vocational Training
The Eastern Rehabilitation Welfare Center is a center that provides vocational training for people with intellectual and mental disabilities. This center provides opportunities for those with disabilities to fully integrate into society and provide for themselves economically and financially. Disabled workers receive systematic rehabilitation training and professional services according to their level of disability.
Clubhouse Haebeonuri
Eastern Social Welfare Society started the Clubhouse Haebeonuri in 1995, originated from Fountain House, the very first Clubhouse in N.Y. the Clubhouse Haebeonuri is a community-based service for people who suffer from mental illness. Since the clubhouse started in 1995, Eastern Social Welfare Society has made effort into improving their quality of life by employment program, recreation events, community-based education, and clubhouse membership participation.
Children’s Mental Health Services
At Seodaemun Child Zone, mental health experts in children’s mental health help children with developmental disabilities through providing professional and comprehensive rehabilitation treatment services. These services help the children adjust to their school and family and strengthen their social adaptation skills.
